Red Sox Trade Marco Scutaro

ESPN BOSTON

BOSTON — The Boston Red Sox, looking to free up money to pursue either starting pitcher Roy Oswalt or outfielder Cody Ross, have traded shortstop Marco Scutaro to the Colorado Rockies.

The Red Sox received right-handed pitcher Clayton Mortensen in return. Mortensen, 26, is a former first-round sandwich pick in 2007 by St. Louis, who sent Mortensen to Oakland in the deal for outfielder Matt Holliday. The Rockies acquired Mortensen for a minor league player last January; the Red Sox become his fourth big league organization.

^ is this thing kidding me? It just makes it keep going? pos.

I think this is a bad move for the redsox, for one reason and one reason only. Not because Scutaro was overpaid and wasn’t very clutch. Or that he got injured quite a bit. Or that we have Jose “The Glove” Iglesias waiting in AAA. Or that Mike Aviles and Nick Punto can probably put up pretty similar numbers at less money. Or that he didn’t have a high enough OBP to bat lead off. Or that he had almost no pop and put up derek jeter 2011 type numbers last year. NOPE none of those reasons matter. The only reason is that we  no have a good reason to listen to Scu-Scu-Scutaro for hours at a time….
